FAQ Questions about a ghost hunter
Part One

It seems that every session I hold for the public about the education of the field of parapsychology pertaining to ghostly phenomena, many questions repeat. As an “expert” who offers services to the public, I try to answer as many as I possibly can. Here are a few that are frequently asked:

What interested you to study this field?

A general answer to this question would pertain to three different types of answers; personal experience, curiosity, and thrill seekers. For my reason, it deals with my loss of my uncle when I was ten. We were both very close and he was like a second father to me. He passed quickly and I never got to officially say goodbye. It was a study to find a way to say goodbye to someone close.

Most the people who attend my seminars come because of that personal reason. Most of them have lost either a parent or grandparent who they wish they could have said goodbye to. In other scenarios, these people claim to see or sense their deceased loved ones after they have passed. These personal experiences and curiosities of their own bring people of all backgrounds into one room to listen for answers to the unknown.

Have you ever seen a ghost?

This next answer runs into conjunction with Jonathan’s last article. I am asked in every setting I go whether or not I have experienced a ghost first hand. The answer to this question is yes and more than once.

The first experience I had with a ghost happened when I was around 11 years old and staying at my cousins’ house during the summer. My cousin Tonia and I were close and would always spend the night at each other’s houses and end the night by watching movies in the living room. We were ending the night just that way and sleeping on the living room floor. Eventually we fell asleep with the TV on and I woke up around 1 A.M. to find a translucent man in the hallway walking towards us. He was a young man in his late teens with a Copenhagen hat on. He walked towards my cousin and kissed her on the forehead and took a look at me and walked away. At this point I was so shocked and full of fear, I couldn’t awake my cousin who was only a few feet away from me.

I must have passed out from fear because the next thing I know it was 3 A.M. and I saw the blinds fly across the room and land on the loveseat. After waking up quite quickly, I found my cousin was awake and quite afraid herself. I jumped up and checked the window (from which the blinds flew) to see if it was open but they were not.

We quickly ran down to the basement where my cousin’s parents were and finished the night down there. Later that morning we would find out that a tornado watch was posted for that area.
The next morning I had discussed with my cousin about what I had saw that night at 1 A.M. After she was quite white and surprised, she asked me, “A Copenhagen hat right?” She then told me about a family friend who had passed away from leukemia. He had dated Tonia’s oldest sister and he was quite fond of the family. Not a big surprise that he had said goodbye not only to Tonia, but also to her other two sisters.

My most recent encounter with a spirit happened during an investigation. Once again, this involved another cousin. It was his house that I was asked to look into. This was not the first time that I had noticed strange occurrences there but the only one that I can say that I “saw a ghost.”
It was a spring night and his grandparents whom he lives with were gone for the weekend and I was asked to come and keep him out of trouble.

During the night I was watching the Toronto Maple Leafs - Ottawa Senators playoff series in the living room and he was in the computer room across the house. It was quite eerie about the timing of the scenario. He was coming out of the computer room to see what I was doing when he heard from down the hallway a woman laughing from his grandparents’ bedroom and then footsteps coming towards him and then turn in my direction. At that time, I turned my head since I had heard something coming from that way and saw an apparition. It was a human figure, almost like a mannequin shape, and looked like it was made out of “TV static.” The figure just ran into the adjoining room and looked at me, then disappeared. My cousin then came running towards me and was very upset about the occurrence. He was scared beyond belief and almost in tears. To this day, the haunting still occurs.

Those are the two most common questions asked in my public seminars. If you have any more questions about the field of parapsychology or any more general questions about this line of work, please contact me at
